I am so glad you’re here!
Let’s be friends! ๐ I am Allessia, the editor behind Root & Arrow. I created this blog as a creative outlet, serving as inspiration and empowerment to my readers.
My husband and I live in the Bay Area with our two daughters.
Born and raised in a small town in Bavaria, Germany, I was introduced to the world of writing, the joy and freedom it brought when I got my first diary. I would dream of traveling the world as a young girl, never imagined I would live in California one day…until I met my husband Billy on a beach in Thailand. Wait, what??!! How did I end up there?
I travelled to different countries from a young age which has allowed me to see and learn from people and their cultures. I knew since high school that I wasn’t called to live a life of performing and striving, pursuing the riches of the world. My heart and soul were always searching for more until I found the real thing. Following Jesus has taken me to places I’ve never dared to dream of. He is the reason I am who I am. He is the reason I am doing this.
My life has been a constant transition for the last years. I spent a whirlwind 3 years moving to the Bay Area, having 2 beautiful daughters, and having the privilege of staying home with them for those fleeting years.
Now, it’s time to unwind, connect and redefine. Time to be inspired, encouraged and empowered to get to the root of it all:
LOVE.
What is Root & Arrow?
Passion. Purpose. Potential.
Birthed out of a dream, Root & Arrow is a safe place to help you thrive emotionally, physically and spiritually.
It is a simple lifestyle expression intended to engage, inspire and empower you through real-world stories and experiences. It is a place of freedom to be transparent and yourself, to seek and find roots of truth for yourself, and to make choices that will powerfully impact the next generation.
My hope for you is that you find fresh perspectives, wisdom and new ways of inspiration!
Why Root & Arrow?
Raising our children to be like arrows starts with us. What and where is our root? How deep does it go?
Every parent knows that as we teach our children, we end up being taught as well. Parenting is like looking into a mirror for a very long time. We learn valuable things about ourselves that might have gone unnoticed. Everything we are, do and say is a reflection of our heart, our root system. It goes back to our heartโs longing to be loved and to be known for who we really are.
If you look from the obvious to the hidden core, do you know who you really are, and where you belong?
When I became a mom in our first year of marriage, I had this utopian expectation of myself to be this perfect (house)wife and mom. It didn’t take me long to realize that my expectations were not healthy nor realistic. I faced the highs and valleys of motherhood. While my heart was full holding my baby, my heart was also hurting. I struggled with isolation, sleep-deprivation, fatigue, trusting others and homesickness at the same time. One of the things I realized is that NO mom should have to go through all the emotions and feelings of motherhood & postpartum alone. You were made to be a part of something bigger, something greater. You belong here.
I invite you to join in on establishing and strengthening our root system, growing and getting support to be who we were made to be. It’s time to flourish in all areas of our lives, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Now I know that I wasn’t made to be a perfect mom, but to be the mom my children need. This WE CAN do, because we were made for this!
